Big Sister

Maddie is being a great big sister! She still gives Owen lots of hugs and pats on the head. Today she told him "I love you, Owen"!

Maddie's first haircut!

I have been telling Ben for a while now that we needed to trim Maddie's hair. We finally sat her down tonight after dinner and trimmed away. Her bangs ended up much shorter than we would've liked, but overall it's not bad. She's still our cute little bug!

Close ups

Here are a few close up pictures of Owen, as requested by Aunt Jana!

A few of our favorite things...

Merry Christmas to all! We enjoyed a relaxing day at home today, just the 4 of us. We hope that everyone's day was just as nice!

More Owen

We brought Owen home yesterday from the hospital. Robyn (and Ben) had had enough. If we didn't leave soon, Robyn was going to be scrubbing the floors and cleaning other people's rooms, she was so bored. Owen tolerated his carseat better than Maddie did, he only cried for few minutes.
Luckily, Sandy & Skip are still here to help entertain Maddie. She is pretty much in heaven with so much attention being piled on her. She did notice that we were taking a lot of pictures and not of her. She got right in front of the camera and kept saying "Picter!, picter!, picter!"

Maddie is also being a great big sister. She pats Owen on the head while saying "Nice, nice" (like we taught her with the cats). She even gave her brother a hug on his first day home.

Lastly, it is amazing how much Maddie has grown. She barely fits on her changing pad anymore, her head is against the wall and her feet hang over the end. Owen on the other hand...

Owen's Grand Entrance!

As you may have read below, Robyn's OB decided yesterday that the time was right. Basically, call coverages for the holidays are weird and she wanted us to be able to have our baby with her at the helm (so to speak).
So, last night, Robyn, Ben, Kristen (Robyn's sister) and Maddie went to the Outback for our "last meal" and then Robyn and Ben proceeded to the hospital to check in for an induction.
After a restful night in the hospital, Dr Allen came by and ruptured Robyn's water at 8AM. Robyn's cervix was only 2cm at that time. The next check was 11AM, at that time she was at 6cm- some pretty good progression. At 11:45, Robyn was feeling a lot of pressure- the nurse checked her and decided Owen was ready to be born- and he was! Dr Allen came back, Robyn pushed for about 10 minutes and so arrived our new bundle of joy!
Owen Benjamin Mailloux was born December 21, 2007 at 12:15 PM.

He weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces (that made Robyn happy) and was 21 inches long.

Compared to Madelyn, he is a skinny little thing but he is very cute! Here are some pics (make sure you notice the festive hat!):

Maddie's words

It's amazing and a little alarming the rate at which Maddie is learning new words... I suppose we really need to watch what we say around her now!

Maddie knows all the parts of her face and a lot of her body:
eyes, nose, mouth, ears, cheek, hair, hands, elbows, knees, lap, toes, feet and belly

She also knows her name and all 3 cats:
Maddie-"Mannie"
Isaak-"I-Kick"
Lily-"Lillllli"
Jasmine-"Ja-mon"

She loves animals too (pronounced "aminal")
kitty and meow-"weoooo"
doggy and woof (she shakes her whole head while saying "woof")
bird
rabbit
bear
monkey
cow (she doesn't really say cow but she knows "moooo" is what a cow says)
frog-"wog" and ribbit-"wibbit"
horse
fish

Other words:
clementine-"memon"
tomato-"maine-o" (she's definately got Maine blood!)
barrette-"bareee"
get down-"git doooow" (usually yelled at a kitty)
buckle
lights-"laghts" (she LOVES the Christmas lights!)
star-"tar"
brush (her teeth)-"wash"
PJ's-"P-days"
bus
car
color
fork-"ork"
spoon-"poon"
Bless you-"sasu" (said whenever someone sneezes, coughs or makes any other similar sound)
poop
potty (though she doesn't actually use it yet)
shower-"show"

There are others but you get the picture... It really is fun to hear her new words everyday. Her pronunciation is getting better too, which is nice for us!

That's all for now... hope to have news soon on Maddie's baby brother!

Let's get this show on the road...

We just came from the doctor's office and we are 1 centimeter dilated. The doctor wouldn't give us a date though since my cervix "isn't soft enough". She said I need to have a few more contractions to help things along. Then she tried to make me feel better by saying that I could still go into full labor tomorrow... I doubt it. So, I am looking for any suggestions to help the contractions along!!!
